Overview
A standalone Tale of Tsushima in the Kamiagata region, told by the people living under the occupation rather than by anyone commanding it.
Hidden in Snow is a standalone Tale of Tsushima in Kamiagata — not attached to an ally questline, and told from inside the occupation rather than above it.
The side tales are where the game shows what the invasion costs people who were never going to be defended by eighty samurai on a beach. They are short, and collectively they are most of the game’s texture.
In the game’s own framing: Sago gives Jin a welcome unlike any he has had, and working out why turns into the grimmest investigation in the region.

Full walkthroughSpoilers
- 01Investigate the town
At Sago Mill, the building on the right of the bridge, opposite the water mill. Speak to the man inside.
- 02Find Sota
Standing next to that building.
- 03Investigate further
Up to the higher village levels, right, toward a peasant in a straw hat near blue fabric.
- 04Follow the peasant
He has the part that matters.
- 05Search the building ahead
Two things: scraps of women’s clothing on the ground and bloody handprints on a wooden chest.
- 06Search the next building
A body in a large wooden bucket, and the rope above it.
- 07Examine the blood
At the next marker, on the ground near bodies.
- 08Examine the footprints
At the red maple tree, by the wooden fences.
- 09Follow the tracks
They lead to buildings where a woman is being held.
- 10Rescue her
Kill everything, prioritising the red icons and white skulls — those are going for her.
- 11Return to Sago
Back to the village.
- 12Kill Sota
He arranged all of it.
Enemies in this tale, and how to fight them
Strengths
- Straw Hats / ronin — Japanese swordsmen rather than Mongols, and they fight like it — faster and more technical than the invaders, with less armour. Stone Stance still applies. Standoffs work well against them, and against unarmoured ronin a won standoff often kills outright.
Rewards
- Minor Legend IncreaseA smaller step toward the next Legend rank — the size a side tale, a liberated settlement or a cleared encounter gives.
- Minor Stealth CharmA silver charm. Minor charms are weaker than major ones and go in the minor slots — you start with two major slots and unlock up to four minor ones by honouring Inari Shrines, for six equipped at once.
- +18 LinenUpgrade material. Silk, linen and leather are what armourers and swordsmiths charge to improve your gear.
