Overview

A standalone Tale of Tsushima in the Izuhara region, told by the people living under the occupation rather than by anyone commanding it.

The Other Side of Honor is a standalone Tale of Tsushima in Izuhara — not attached to an ally questline, and told from inside the occupation rather than above it.

The side tales are where the game shows what the invasion costs people who were never going to be defended by eighty samurai on a beach. They are short, and collectively they are most of the game’s texture.

In the game’s own framing: Someone saw a samurai alive in Kashine. If another one got off Komoda Beach, Jin wants to know who.

Full walkthroughSpoilers

  1. 01
    Investigate the area

Enter the large house at the waypoint and speak with the woman about the samurai Jinroku, who saved the village.

  2. 02
    Speak with Jinroku

His account does not hold — he says Komatsu beach, not Komoda.

  3. 03
    Follow Nabe to the bath

Walking and talking about Jinroku. His horse is at the stables. Whistle the horse rather than walking back to it, and remember a charge is itself an opening move against a loose group.

  4. 04
    Investigate the stables

The horse, the bags and the saddle. The saddle belongs to Lord Higuchi. Whistle the horse rather than walking back to it, and remember a charge is itself an opening move against a loose group.

  5. 05
    Confront the imposter

Back at the house. He has already gone, and in a hurry.

  6. 06
    Reach the search area

Footprints in the field lead to the outside gate.

  7. 07
    Track Jinroku

Up the path; he is hiding near the woods.

  8. 08
    Stop him

He runs for a hot spring; take the alternate path to cut him off.

  9. 09
    Defeat Jinroku

He drops his sword and surrenders before it starts.

  10. 10
    Let him go

He promises to stop pretending to be what he is not.

  11. 11
    Return to the farm

    Ride back and go inside.

  12. 12
    Speak with the woman

Tell her the truth, and find out the village probably knew.

Rewards

  • Minor Legend Increase
A smaller step toward the next Legend rank — the size a side tale, a liberated settlement or a cleared encounter gives.
  • Minor Stealth Charm
A silver charm. Minor charms are weaker than major ones and go in the minor slots — you start with two major slots and unlock up to four minor ones by honouring Inari Shrines, for six equipped at once.
  • +10 Linen
Upgrade material. Silk, linen and leather are what armourers and swordsmiths charge to improve your gear.
