Key takeaways
- This is the melee armour. Gosaku's set pushes staggering and damage rather than stealth. If you fight in the open and use Standoffs, it is the strongest thing you can be wearing.
- It pairs badly with Ghost play. Taking it does not lock you out of anything, but you will want to swap sets rather than treat it as a permanent upgrade — armour is changed freely.
- The trail involves digging. Several stages are excavation sites rather than combat encounters; expect investigation between fights.
Overview
Gosaku was not a samurai. That is the entire point of the legend, and it is why this is the Mythic Tale that fits Jin's arc most closely.
The ballad describes a farmer who took up arms, organised commoners into a fighting force, and became unbreakable — a man defined by refusing to die when his class was expected to. The trail leads Jin through the sites the song names, digging up an armour that was buried rather than inherited.
The reward, Gosaku's Armor, is the heavy set: it raises melee damage and staggering power at the cost of stealth, and it is the natural companion to a stand-and-fight build. Thematically it is a commoner's armour that a lord's nephew ends up wearing, which the game does not comment on and does not need to.
In the game’s own framing: A farmer who armed farmers. Six farmsteads still hold the keys to where his armor was hidden.
