A Mother’s Peace belongs to Lady Masako’s questline: Masako tracking the people who slaughtered the Adachi clan. It is one entry in that arc, set in Izuhara.

The ally questlines are the game’s best writing and they run in order, so this tale assumes the ones before it. Lady Masako’s arc rewards being followed as a sequence rather than picked at.

In the game’s own framing: Masako is fighting at Komoda Beach, looking for her family — and specifically for her two sons.
