OverviewSpoilers
Iki’s raiders were the reason Kazumasa Sakai came here. This chapter is about what they became afterwards.
The island’s raider culture is the historical grievance the whole expansion sits on: Jin’s father led a campaign against it, and the islanders have hated Clan Sakai since.
A Raider’s Return brings that history into the present, with the Eagle Tribe’s occupation layered on top of a population that already had reasons to distrust a Sakai.
In the game’s own framing: Tenzo’s crew have made a living out of opposing samurai. With the Eagle Tribe threatening all of them, he agrees to make the introduction anyway.

Full walkthroughSpoilers
- 01Meet Tenzo at the abandoned village
He warns you his crew distrusts samurai, and must not find out you are a Sakai.
- 02Ride with Tenzo
On horseback, talking as you go. Whistle the horse rather than walking back to it, and remember a charge is itself an opening move against a loose group.
- 03Engage the Mongols
Open with a standoff. Open with the standoff. Hold until the enemy actually commits rather than pressing early, and each won standoff kills outright — against unarmoured ronin it can gut a group before the fight starts.
- 04Kill the Shaman first
His songs buff everyone around him; the fight is much shorter without him. Kill the Shaman before anything else — while he is chanting every Mongol near him hits harder, moves faster and blocks better, so removing him is worth more than removing two ordinary soldiers.
- 05Clear the rest
The remaining force.
- 06Head for the cliffs
The normal path is blocked, so Tenzo takes you round.
- 07Grapple down the first drawbridge
Use the grapple to lower it. Hold the grapple prompt until the line catches before jumping; releasing early drops you.
- 08Work around the cliffside
The first descent does not go through; take the alternate line.
- 09Grapple down the last barricade
The final obstacle. Hold the grapple prompt until the line catches before jumping; releasing early drops you.
- 10Speak with Tenzo at the gate
He points out there is no turning back.
- 11Open the gate
Together.
- 12Cross to the main building
The large structure at the back of the camp.
- 13Meet Fune
The leader of the raider crew, which ends the chapter.
Enemies in this tale, and how to fight them
Strengths
- Shaman — Kill first, before anything else on this list. A Shaman does not fight you directly — he chants, and while he is chanting every Mongol around him hits harder, moves faster and blocks better. Killing him is worth more than killing any two of the others. Kunai to stagger, then a heavy attack, is the fastest answer; sustained Wind Stance pressure also works. Shamans usually stand back from the line, often on rocks or ruins, so the bow is frequently the cleanest route.
Rewards
- Major Legend IncreaseA large step toward the next Legend rank. Legend gates your Ghost Weapon unlocks and your health and Resolve upgrades, so main and Mythic Tales are the fastest way to raise it.
