OverviewSpoilers

Jin travels under a false name, because on Iki the true one would get him killed rather than obeyed.

The title states the mechanic: on this island Jin cannot trade on being a Sakai, so he does not. Yarikawa — the clan Lord Shimura crushed and Jin later allied with — is a name that carries no debt here.

It is the clearest expression of the expansion’s inversion. On Tsushima, Jin’s problem was becoming something dishonourable. On Iki, his problem is that his honourable inheritance is itself the offence.

In the game’s own framing: Tenzo introduces Jin to Fune and her crew under a borrowed name. Proving himself means sinking the Mongol warship off the coast.

Full walkthroughSpoilers

  1. 01
    Meet Tenzo at the cliffside

He is at a campfire with his companions near the cliff edge.

  2. 02
    Watch the introduction

The scene that sets the objective.

  3. 03
    Follow the raiders downhill

Toward the shore, where about a dozen Mongols stand between you and the ship.

  4. 04
    Defeat the first wave

Kill the Shamans specifically — they are buffing everyone. The raiders hold attention, which leaves openings behind the enemy line. Kill the Shaman before anything else — while he is chanting every Mongol near him hits harder, moves faster and blocks better, so removing him is worth more than removing two ordinary soldiers.

  5. 05
    Continue after the cutscene

    Into the next phase.

  6. 06
    Clear the lower plateau cannoneers

Across the smaller rocks and along the hanging beams to reach them. Stealth works on the first group.

  7. 07
    Clear the higher plateau

The rest of the cannoneers above.

  8. 08
    Board the warship

    Clear the deck.

  9. 09
    Find the way inside

Up the ladders and around to the far side of the ship.

  10. 10
    Find the black powder

In the inner rooms. Shoot the powder before the group spreads out. Once they scatter, the barrel is worth one kill instead of four.

  11. 11
    Ignite it

The ship goes down, and the raiders decide you are worth keeping.

Enemies in this tale, and how to fight them

Strengths

  • Shaman — Kill first, before anything else on this list. A Shaman does not fight you directly — he chants, and while he is chanting every Mongol around him hits harder, moves faster and blocks better. Killing him is worth more than killing any two of the others. Kunai to stagger, then a heavy attack, is the fastest answer; sustained Wind Stance pressure also works. Shamans usually stand back from the line, often on rocks or ruins, so the bow is frequently the cleanest route.

Rewards

  • Major Legend Increase
A large step toward the next Legend rank. Legend gates your Ghost Weapon unlocks and your health and Resolve upgrades, so main and Mythic Tales are the fastest way to raise it.
