OverviewSpoilers
Kamiagata's settlements are the last the Mongols have not finished with, and Act 3 opens by defending them.
An early Act 3 chapter in the Kamiagata region, Wolves at the Gates continues the northern campaign after Honor and Ash. By this point the Mongol presence on Tsushima is concentrated rather than spread, which changes the character of the fighting — fewer roadside camps, more fortified positions.
It sits between the act's opening and the missions that close in on Khotun Khan.
GameWith's mission index describes this chapter as the Mongols launching a major offensive that Jin must counter — a defensive engagement rather than an infiltration.
In the game’s own framing: The roads into Toyotama are blocked. Jin intends to break through, which means retaking Fort Kaminodake with Yuna’s hunters.

Full walkthroughSpoilers
- 01Start at Jogaku Temple
Speak with Yuna.
- 02Travel to Takeshi’s camp
In Sago Prefecture, inside the investigation area.
- 03Speak with Takeshi
About how the assault will go.
- 04Talk on the cliff
A nearby overlook above the fortress.
- 05Travel to Fort Kaminodake
Fast travel to Jito’s Foothills Hot Spring if you have found it.
- 06Meet the hunters at the lumber camp
Near the fort perimeter.
- 07Climb to the hunters
Up the collapsed building, then grapple the branches across. Hold the grapple prompt until the line catches before jumping; releasing early drops you.
- 08Survey the fortress
Crouch beside the hunters and look it over. Survey points are not decoration — each one you mark puts an objective or a hazard on your map, and skipping them means finding the same things the hard way.
- 09Clear the first area
Stealth or open fighting, either works.
- 10Regroup with the hunters
Once it is clear.
- 11Wait for the patrol
Hold position as the gates open and more Mongols come out.
- 12Defeat the patrol
Swordsmen, spearmen and shield-bearers — switch stances to match. Shield-bearers need Water Stance, and specifically its heavy attacks — light attacks chip uselessly at a raised shield. Wind Stance for the spearmen: they will hold you at the end of their reach all day otherwise, and Wind's kicks and spins are built to close that gap. Stone Stance handles the swordsmen; its heavy attacks do extra stagger damage and break their guard.
TipStone breaks swordsmen, who make up most of every Mongol group.
- 13Advance through the fort
With the hunters, until the next objective triggers.
- 14Investigate the Toyotama Gate
From the cliff, watching the fighting there.
- 15Survey the keep
Up the ladder on the nearby building and out onto the balcony. Survey points are not decoration — each one you mark puts an objective or a hazard on your map, and skipping them means finding the same things the hard way.
- 16Climb higher
Grapple the successive branches to the upper ground. Hold the grapple prompt until the line catches before jumping; releasing early drops you.
- 17Clear the upper fort
The Mongols holding the top section.
- 18Reach your allies
Follow the marker.
- 19Finish the last wave
The concluding fight ends the tale.
Enemies in this tale, and how to fight them
Strengths
- Shield-bearers — Water Stance, and specifically its heavy attacks — that is what breaks a raised shield. Trying to chip through the front of a shield with light attacks wastes the fight. Stagger them first so the guard comes up and breaks, then go through the opening quickly before it closes.
- Spearmen — Wind Stance. Spears have reach on you and will keep you at the end of it indefinitely if you fight them at their distance. Wind's kicks and spinning attacks are built to close that gap. With the deflection skills unlocked you can deflect spear attacks outright, which turns their advantage into an opening.
- Swordsmen — Stone Stance, whose heavy attacks do extra stagger damage to sword-wielders and break their guard. Swordsmen are the backbone of nearly every Mongol group, so Stone is the stance you will spend the most time in. Parry timing matters more here than anywhere else: blue attacks can be parried, red ones cannot and have to be dodged.
